  • What is VET?

Vocational Education and Training, or VET as it’s commonly known, in schools engages students in work-related learning built on strategic partnerships between schools, registered training organisations, business, industry and the wider community.

Completion of VET qualifications provides students with credit towards a nationally recognised vocational qualification within the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). A broad range of post-school vocational options and pathways are available through the study of VET.

The national framework for vocational learning and VET delivered to secondary students defines VET as:

‘…enables students to acquire workplace skills through nationally recognised training described within an industry-developed training package or an accredited course. A VET qualification is issued by an RTO. The achievement of a VET qualification signifies that a student has demonstrated competency against the skills and knowledge required to perform effectively in the workplace.’

For Year 11 and 12 students wanting to successfully complete their secondary education but are not aiming for an ATAR for university entrance, Aranmore offers an alternative pathway to achieve their Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE). WACE is the official certificate received from the government upon successfully graduating from Year 12.

The Vocational Education and Training Department offers students a variety of opportunities and courses to complement or act as an alternative pathway to mainstream education programs. The VET program is ideally suited to those students planning to enter a State Training Provider (TAFE) or gain an apprenticeship after Year 11 or 12.

VET courses offered on campus at Aranmore through our Registered Training Organisation (RTO) iVET are:

    • Certificate II Workplace Skills
    • Certificate II Sport & Recreation
  • VET - Externally Delivered Courses
