ABORIGINAL STUDENTS PROGRAM
Welcome to the Aboriginal Students Program, where we are committed to providing holistic support and fostering a sense of belonging for our Aboriginal students. At Aranmore, we recognise the importance of celebrating diversity and honouring the rich cultural heritage of Australia's First Nations peoples.
Program Mission
In line with the College's mission and vision, the mission of the Aboriginal Students Program is to empower Aboriginal students to achieve their full potential academically, culturally, and personally. We strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment that values and respects Aboriginal culture, history, and identity.
Program Values
Respect: We honour the traditions, languages, and customs of Aboriginal peoples and treat all individuals with dignity and respect.
Empowerment: We empower Aboriginal students to embrace their cultural identity, achieve academic success, and pursue their goals with confidence.
Community: We foster a strong sense of community among Aboriginal students, families, staff, and the broader Aranmore community, working collaboratively to support each other's growth and well-being.
Program Highlights
Cultural Enrichment: Our program offers cultural enrichment activities, including traditional art workshops, language classes, and cultural incursions and excursions, to deepen students' connection to their heritage.
Academic Support: We provide tailored academic support and mentoring to help Aboriginal students excel in their studies and reach their educational goals.
Personal Development: Through leadership workshops, and wellbeing initiatives, we support Aboriginal students in developing the skills, confidence, and resilience needed to navigate life's challenges.
Community Engagement: We actively engage with local Aboriginal communities and organisations to build partnerships and create opportunities for our students to connect with their cultural heritage and give back to the community.
Bursary Educational Encouragement Program (BEEP)
The College’s dedication to fostering meaningful collaboration with Aboriginal communities and supporting the educational advancement of young Aboriginal individuals is demonstrated through our Bursary Educational Encouragement Program (BEEP).
BEEP, funded by the College, represents our genuine commitment to supporting Aboriginal families in nurturing their children's educational aspirations.
To ensure the program's efficacy, we conduct thorough reviews of each recipient every semester, customising the bursary amount to suit their family's specific financial circumstances. In addition, all participating students are required to apply for Abstudy, thereby further enriching their educational opportunities.
For details of BEEP download the Bursary Educational Encouragement Program (BEEP) information document.
For those interested in applying for BEEP, kindly complete the online application form. It's important to note that applicants must be currently enrolled or in the process of enrolling to be considered for a BEEP scholarship. Please access the Enrolment Application Form here (or download a printable version here).
We advise families to apply early, as there may be waiting lists due to high demand.
