Moorditj Bidi Program (Solid Path)

Aranmore Catholic College is built on Whadjuk Boodja (Land). 'Moorditj Bidi' means 'Solid' or 'Strong Path' in Noongar language. 'Bidi' is used to describe aspects of our program and the attributes we want our students to develop throughout their enrolment at Aranmore Catholic College. 'Moorditj Bidi' is the solid path to: Belonging, Innovating, Dreaming, and Inspiring.

The College has offered support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students since 2002. In this time, we have welcomed all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from many Language Groups around WA and Australia.

Program Mission

In line with the College's mission, the vision of the Moorditj Bidi Program is to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to achieve their full potential academically, culturally, and personally. We strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment that values and respects Aboriginal culture, history, and identity.

Program Values

Moorditj Bidi is the solid path to: Belonging, Innovating, Dreaming, and Inspiring.

Belonging
Connection to Culture and Community: Helping our students feel a deep sense of belonging where their culture, traditions, and heritage are acknowledged and celebrated at the College.

Inclusive Learning Spaces: We aim to create safe and inclusive environments where students feel they are part of the College community and are valued, respected, and understood.

Shared Experiences: Through school-based initiatives, our Aboriginal students can share their stories and cultural experiences, strengthening their sense of unity and connection with peers.

Inspiring
Cultural Ambassadors: We believe in developing students to be ambassadors of their culture, inspiring others to learn and appreciate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage, values, and contributions.

Role Models for Peers: Through their actions and achievements, our students inspire other students to be proud of their heritage and to celebrate their identity.

Voice for Change: We encourage our students to develop their leadership, inspiring change in their communities and advocating for social justice, environmental stewardship, and equality.

Dreaming
Connection to Ancestral Wisdom: We encourage our students to connect with the history of Aboriginal people in Australia to understand the strength and resilience of Aboriginal people and culture.  Their dreams are influenced by both an understanding of the past and hopes for the future.

Vision for a Strong Future: We encourage our students to achieve academic success and develop their Identity as young Aboriginal people.

Empowering Students: We encourage young Aboriginal students to dream boldly and imagine themselves as leaders, change-makers, and advocates for justice and equality in their communities.

Innovating
Cultural Knowledge Meets Modern Ideas: we want our students to bring unique perspectives that blend traditional knowledge with contemporary innovation.

Resourcefulness and Adaptability: We encourage our students to draw on their experience, resilience, and creativity to find solutions to challenges, both academic and social.

Pioneering New Paths: we encourage students to innovate in a way that honours their cultural roots to conserve and share cultural knowledge with our College community.

Program Highlights

Cultural Enrichment: Our program offers cultural enrichment activities, including traditional art workshops, language classes, and cultural incursions and excursions, to deepen students' connection to their heritage.
